What You’ll Be Doing as a Business Development Manager for our SolarAnywhere Product
Clean Power Research (CPR) seeks a highly motivated, self-driven Business Development Manager to explore and develop new opportunities for the company with a particular focus on expanding market opportunities for our software-as-a-service SolarAnywhere® product family. This role is global in scope and will drive new opportunities with partners, customers, and industry groups in the U.S. and select international markets.
On a day-to-day basis, the person in this role will track global industry trends, understand the competition, attend and present at key conferences and events worldwide and meet with partners, customers, and industry groups to expand the reach of our sales and product teams. This person will also make sure that our executive staff is well-informed on important issues and opportunities. With certain opportunities, the Business Development Manager will work across multiple internal groups to develop and execute new partnership and business models. A person in this position will also identify, track, and influence regulatory and market processes that may impact our current and future offerings.
The Business Development Manager is part of the larger sales organization at our lean, well-functioning company. This person must be able to efficiently transition opportunities to the rest of the sales, product management, and marketing organizations.
The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of the global solar industry markets, seed that knowledge internally, and use it to help the company succeed. The person should also be well-versed in SaaS partnership models. We are looking for an exceptional, creative individual with a data-driven mindset and the ability to think on their feet. Travel requirement: 25%. This is a hybrid role based in our Bellevue, WA office with some flexibility for remote work each workweek.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Identify, engage, and onboard software, channel and implementation partners
- Create business cases for addressing new markets, including new verticals, geographies and products
- Create go-to-market strategies and plans for new markets including international markets in Europe, Asia, South America, and Africa
- Drive new subscription revenue by developing new use cases for existing offerings and pilot customers for new offerings
- Develop and deliver high quality technical and business process content to maintain CPR’s thought leadership positions in areas such as solar project financing, development, forecasting, and asset management
- Develop executive contacts with key partners, customers and industry groups
- Collect, organize and own market data on customers, competitors, pricing, regulation, opportunities, channels and partners
- Develop and hand-off opportunities to sales, marketing and product management teams when appropriate
Who You Are
- Minimum of BA/BS degree; MBA or advanced degree in closely related field preferred
- 3-5 years in business development or related role, preferably with software-as-a-service solutions
- Partner and channel management experience
- Passion for solar energy and renewables essential; energy industry experience required
- Familiarity with SolarAnywhere and competitive products
- Domain experience in utility scale solar project financing, development, forecasting and / or asset management preferred
- Familiarity with renewable energy business processes, systems, and regulatory issues
- International market-entry and expansion experience
- Comfortable presenting in front of internal and external groups, including executive audiences
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
- Superior organizational skills
- Ability to track and juggle many tasks
Pay Range and Benefits
- Base Salary Range: $110,000 to $140,000 annual depending on experience
